The main purpose of the association is the support of literacy research and practice in Switzerland. The goals include exchange and collaboration between research and practice, the French and German language regions, and organisations engaged in literacy. Perspectives on literacy include different age groups, life domains, and research disciplines.

The means to achieve these goals is the online-platform leseforum.ch / forumlecture.ch. An editorial board of literacy experts from 6 important organisations publishes 3 issues of the open access online-journal leseforum.ch / forumlecture.ch per year. In 2014, 23 articles have been published in French and German:

  • 1/2014 Literalität in der Berufsbildung / Littératie dans la formation professionelle (Literacy in vocational education)
  • 2/2013 Literales Lernen mit digitalen Medien / Les apprentissages littéraciques avec les médias numériques (Literacy learning with digital media)
  • 3/2013 Beurteilung des Lesens und Schreibens in der Primarschule / L’évaluation de la lecture et de l’écriture à l’école (Evaluatin reading and writing in primary classrooms)
