‘Engaging literacy learners in diverse settings’
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Professor Nell Duke (University of Michigan)
The Literacy Association of Ireland (LAI) invites proposals for papers, workshops and poster presentations for its 43rd annual international conference.
The conference will explore research and practice across a wide range of topics relating to literacy across all educational sectors (early childhood, Primary, Post-Primary, tertiary, special & inclusive educational settings and educational services).
The conference will explore research and practice on the following topics, including, but not limited to:
- Oral language development in first and additional languages
- Best practices in early literacy
- Promoting children’s literature in schools
- Integrated approaches to literacy development
- New literacies: using digital tools to enhance literacy
- Literacy across languages
- Classroom-based assessment for literacy
- Research-based best practice for children with literacy difficulties
- Literacy in special and inclusive settings
- Family and community literacy
- Reading and writing processes
- Learning to teach literacy: teacher education
- Libraries and literacy

PROPOSAL TYPES
Oral presentations, workshops, research roundtable and TeachMeet (brief, 5 minute practice-focused presentation)
PROPOSAL SUBMISSION:
Proposals for papers or workshops (150-300 word abstract) should be submitted by May 22nd, 2019, using the proposal form at www.literacyireland.com
